We had decided that I would make it for Nathan for his birthday, but I couldn't find the right colors of yarn. While I was taking too long to decide on yarns (the birthday came and went), Zach decided to learn to knit and just do it himself. He was ready to go to the craft store and just use whatever colors they had. Having researched for way too long to ascertain the correct shades of each color, I just couldn't let him do that. That prompted me to dye the colors myself, using Knit Picks Bare bulky weight. I used Jacquard acid dyes in sun yellow, pumpkin orange, and russet. He whipped the hat out in just a couple of days, and he did a great job! The hat was very well received. I hear rumors that Nathan wore it all day at work the next day. Orders for more are already being placed. :)I have been busy myself. I started out with the boy in cloth diapers, mainly Fuzzi Bunz, but due to FB's related problems, I have been using disposables for the last month or so. I have plenty of prefolds, but since we had not been using them much, they were scattered to the four winds. I also didn't have very many covers. Having had my fill of disposables, I decided to gather the prefolds and knit the boy some woolen pants instead of buying more covers. I used LTK's Picky Pants pattern. I managed to whip out three this week, one of which I am exceedingly proud:
The next pair was pretty well by-the-book. I followed the pattern for size Medium exactly without any modifications, using Peace Fleece worsted in Baltic Blue:
And my best- I added a leaf lace panel down one leg using the chart from The Peapod set from Knitting Daily. I used Peace Fleece in (my favorite) Shaba Green:
That about covers it for this week. Today I just cast on Rusted Root from Zephyr Style using Knit Picks Shine in Grass. It's my first adult garment in which size matters, so we'll see how that goes. I'll keep you posted.
